We ARE HIRING: PART TIME BARTENDER

Summary of position

Idle Hands Craft Ales is looking for high energy, personable individuals to join our team in Malden providing guests with a consistently positive and memorable experience.

This is a seasonal position for the summer/early fall that has the potential to extend further and is a great opportunity for someone who has wanted to get involved with a brewery with a small team and have a direct impact on its success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Serve beer and food to customers in a friendly and upbeat manner while practicing safe and responsible service of alcohol and monitoring guests for signs of intoxication

  • Ensure an enjoyable and consistent Idle Hands Craft Ales customer experience to the public

  • Anticipate guests’ service needs, including asking questions of guests to better understand their needs and watching/listening to guest preferences and acting on them whenever possible

  • Maintain a safe, welcoming and inviting environment by being kind, friendly and respectful at all times

  • Promote Idle Hands Craft Ales and serve as brand ambassador by answering questions and educating visitors about our products, company and culture

  • Gather an understanding about the customer experience and soliciting feedback to make it better

  • Work with our POS system (Square) to ensure accuracy of transactions and cash drawer

  • Perform opening and closing/cleaning procedures according to SOPs to ensure taproom is prepared for business each day, and to always maintain taproom cleanliness.

  • Work closely with the Tap Room Manager in various aspects of operating and promoting the tap room

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • TIPS and/or Serve Safe certified

  • Previous bartending experience is a plus; prior experience working with the public required

Skills, Knowledge & Attributes

  • Effective communication skills

  • Efficient decision making in occasionally stressful situations

  • Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision

  • Retail math understanding required

  • A good memory to recall regular guests, remember drink orders from large groups etc

  • Calm professional demeanor in all situations

  • Knowledge of and passion for craft beer and the brewing industry

  • Honest and Trustworthy

General Job Requirements

  • Must be 21+

  • Weekends and night time availability required

  • Scheduling flexibility required

  • Access to reliable transportation

Physical Requirements

  • Stand for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to move quickly, bend, stoop, and reach

  • Move kegs and other equipment as needed

  • Lift 50 lbs to waist height, push/pull up to 175 lbs

Compensation

  • Up to $40/hr inclusive of tips

    This is a non-exempt position. Selected individual will be eligible to earn overtime compensation for hours worked over 40 in any given week plus tips earned.

  • Pay is biweekly based on hours worked

  • Branded brewery clothing

  • Admissions to limited entry beer and industry-only events

  • Weekly beer allotment
