Our History

Founded by Christopher and Grace Tkach, Idle Hands started out in 2010 as the smallest commercial brewery in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, producing 1.5 barrels of beer at a time. Our beer list now spans the globe in terms of style and inspiration, and we still hold ourselves to the same standards of excellence that have guided Belgian and other Old World brewers across the generations. By adhering to time-honored techniques, sourcing only authentic ingredients and always striving for the utmost quality, Idle Hands Craft Ales strives to deliver a world-class drinking experience to every customer, every time.

Our Vision

From our humble beginnings until today, Idle Hands has always been about bringing people together around great beer. On the brew deck, in the cellar or at the taps, our staff all share a love for both timeworn recipes and bold twists. In our Malden taproom, our patrons gather to see old friends and make new ones. We strive to be a brewery that honors the best traditions that come with enjoying a glass in good company; at our tables, all are welcome. We’re also committed to the very ground that our foundation stands on. Through local events, neighborhood cleanups, fundraising and more, we are always looking for ways to give back to the city of Malden and its people.

Our Team

As we’ve grown over the years, we’ve learned a simple lesson – excellent people make excellent beers. The Idle Hands crew is a group of brewing masters, operations experts and hospitality champs. We keep our customers front of mind with everything we do, right next to our love of quality beer and our Malden pride. We like to think that each day, someone somewhere could be trying an Idle Hands beer for the first time – so we always do our best to make sure it’s great.
